More Information
You must be registered and enrolled in a political party to vote in that party's primary. All registered voters are entitled to vote on Constitutional amendments, ballot questions and in all special elections that might be held at the same time as a primary election. You can change your political party at any time.
Change of Party
- Changes made more than 15 days before an election will take effect for that election.
- Changes made 15 days or less before an election will take effect for the next election.
Any qualified voter may apply for a mail-in ballot. You may simply request this ballot without a reason.
If you plan to be out of the municipality on election day or if you have a disability or illness that prevents you from going to your polling place on election day, you can request an absentee ballot, which still requires you to list a reason for your ballot.
Voters do not need to show ID unless they are voting for the first time.
If you are voting for the first time, bring one of the following photo IDs with you to you polling location:
- PA driver’s license or PennDOT ID
- Photo ID issued by any Pennsylvania agency or the US government
- US passport
- US Armed Forces ID
- Student ID
- Employee ID
If you don’t have a photo ID you can bring non-photo ID that shows your name and address, such as:
- Confirmation from a county voter registration office
- Non-photo ID issued by Pennsylvania or the US government
- Firearm permit
- Current utility bill, bank statement, paycheck, or government check
